Where is my data stored?

Data upload to Nira is stored globally, currently across all continents except Antarctica and Africa (with Africa scheduled to be added).
Region Locking:
If you need to limit your data to a specific region -- such as a continent, country, city, or an even more localized area -- Nira provides a "region locking" feature. This service is still hosted and managed on Nira servers but is a more cost-effective alternative to the on-premise option.
Why Nira Region Locking is different: most platforms that offer regional hosting apply it only to where the data ends up in storage. Processing usually happens in a centralized datacenter, so during upload and conversion your data leaves the requested region before it is ever stored there. Nira provides true region locking: your data never touches a server or a network outside of your requested region, neither during processing nor during storage.
Key considerations
Global granularity: we can narrow your data residency down to a single city, provided we can source an adequate datacenter in that location.
Account-wide application: currently, Region Locking is an "all or nothing" feature. It applies to every asset within a specific Nira account. If some of your assets need region locking and others do not, you will need separate accounts. We plan to make region locking a per-asset setting later.
Access vs. residency: region locking controls where the data lives, not who can see it. It does not filter access by a viewer's geo-located IP address: if you grant someone access, they can view the data from anywhere in the world.
Pricing: available only to Growth and Enterprise plans. Standard upgrade pricing applies for regions within the U.S. and E.U. Custom pricing applies for granular region locking within the U.S. and E.U. (a specific datacenter or city), and for regions outside the U.S. and E.U.
On-premises deployment / managed service:
Nira can also be deployed on-premises, commonly referred to as on-prem or self-hosted. This enables custom configurations, allowing you to install and configure Nira on your own hardware -- whether it's located at your facility, within a data center, or hosted by a third party cloud service provider. There is a one-time deployment fee, plus $25 per user, with a 400-user minimum.
