Trial Timeline

Your trial runs for 15 calendar days from the moment you create your account—not from your first login. You'll see a countdown timer in the top-right corner of your dashboard.

What happens when it ends:

  • Day 15: Your account locks. You can't log in or access assets.

  • Days 16–45: A 30-day grace period. Your data stays archived but inaccessible. Subscribe anytime here to restore everything.

  • Day 46+: Your assets are permanently deleted. Recovery isn't possible.

The grace period is your safety net—mark your calendar and don't skip it.

Converting to a Paid Subscription

The Five Steps

Step 1: Access Billing Settings

  1. Log in to Nira

  2. Click your profile icon (top-right)

  3. Select Account Settings

  4. Click the Billing tab

[SCREENSHOT: Profile menu with Account Settings highlighted]

Step 2: Locate the Subscribe Button

On the Billing page, find the "Current Plan" section. Below it you'll see:

  • "Subscribe Now" (trial or expired accounts)

  • "Manage Subscription" or "Upgrade Plan" (if subscription options are available)

The button is usually the most prominent blue action on the page. If you're having trouble finding it, try refreshing your browser—sometimes the page needs a reload to display correctly.

Step 3: Choose Your Plan and Billing Cycle

After clicking Subscribe, you'll see two options:

  • Annual: $19/month, billed as $228 upfront (50% savings vs. monthly)

  • Monthly: $119/month, renewed automatically each month

Neither option locks you in for life—you can cancel anytime. Annual pricing just rewards longer commitment.

Select your preference and click Continue to Payment.

Step 4: Enter Payment Details

You'll land on a secure Stripe payment page. Enter:

  • Card number

  • Expiration date

  • CVC (3-digit security code)

  • Billing ZIP code (at minimum)

Your full card details are never stored by Nira—Stripe handles encryption and compliance. Click Subscribe or Complete Purchase.

Step 5: Confirm Your Subscription

You'll see a success message. Check your email for a receipt from billing@nira.app (check spam if it doesn't appear in your inbox). Your account is now active on the paid plan, the trial countdown disappears, and your first billing date is recorded in Account Settings > Billing.

Trial FAQ

Can I extend my trial?

Trial extensions aren't automatic. If you need more time to evaluate, contact support before expiration and explain your situation. Support reviews requests on a case-by-case basis, but extensions aren't guaranteed.

If you're blocked on data processing or waiting for a specific workflow to complete, mention that in your request—it strengthens your case.

What happens when my trial expires?

Nira gives you a cushion:

  1. Day 15 at midnight UTC: Account locks. No login access.

  2. Days 16–45: 30-day grace period. All your assets are archived but not deleted. Subscribe anytime and everything restores.

  3. Day 46 onwards: Assets are permanently deleted. You'd need a new account.

Why UTC? Trial expiration is always midnight UTC, not your local timezone. Check the exact timestamp in Account Settings > Billing if you're near the deadline.

Can I reactivate after expiry?

Within 30 days: absolutely. Log in with your email and password, complete the subscription steps, and your account + all archived assets restore immediately.

After 30 days: no. Your data is permanently deleted. You'd create a new account and start fresh.

This is why the grace period matters—don't miss it.

How do I switch between annual and monthly billing?

On Individual plans, switching is straightforward:

  1. Go to Account Settings > Billing

  2. Click "Edit Plan" or "Manage Subscription"

  3. Select your new billing frequency

  4. Confirm

Your next billing date adjusts automatically. If you switch mid-cycle, prorated credits may apply.

On Professional or Enterprise plans, contact your account manager—billing changes need approval.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There's no penalty, no lock-in period. Canceling doesn't delete your assets, but it prevents new uploads and modifications. See Cancellation & Auto-Renewal for detailed steps.

What if my payment declines?

You'll get an email explaining why (insufficient funds, expired card, fraud block, ZIP mismatch, etc.). Your account status becomes "Payment Failed" in Billing settings.

You have 5–7 days to update your payment method before suspension. Click "Update Payment Method" on your Billing page and try a different card.

Pro tip: Contact your bank first—sometimes they're blocking the charge without telling you.

What if I'm not ready to subscribe?

If your trial is ending and you need more time:

  1. Request an extension from support before expiration

  2. Consider a Professional plan trial if you want to test team features or advanced measurements

  3. Just subscribe now and downgrade later if you realize Individual is all you need

The worst move is letting your trial silently expire. That's how people lose data.

Is there a free plan?

No. Nira doesn't offer a perpetual free tier. What you have:

  • 15-day trial (free, full Individual features)

  • Professional/Enterprise trials (available on request; contact sales)

  • Educational pricing (for universities and research; contact sales)

If you're an organization or educator, reach out directly—there may be options.

Troubleshooting

Problem: I can't find the Subscribe button

Cause 1: You're already on a paid plan. The Subscribe button only appears for trial or expired accounts.

Fix: Check your Billing page. If it says "Current Plan: Individual" with an active date, you're already subscribed.

Cause 2: Page didn't load fully or your browser cached old content.

Fix: Refresh (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R) or clear your browser cache (Settings > Clear Browsing Data). Try again.

Problem: I clicked Subscribe and nothing happened

Cause: JavaScript is disabled or a popup blocker prevented the payment page from opening.

Fix:

  1. Verify JavaScript is enabled in your browser (default in most)

  2. Disable popup blockers temporarily (check extensions)

  3. Try a different browser if the issue persists

  4. Contact support if it still doesn't work

Problem: The payment form won't accept my card

Cause: Card decline (insufficient funds, expired card, fraud block, or ZIP code mismatch).

Fix:

  1. Double-check expiration date and CVC

  2. Verify your billing ZIP code matches your bank's records exactly

  3. Call your bank—confirm they're not blocking the charge

  4. Try a different card if available

  5. Contact support with the exact error message

Problem: I paid but didn't get a confirmation email

Cause: Email delay or caught in spam.

Fix:

  1. Check spam and Promotions folders

  2. Whitelist billing@nira.app in your email settings

  3. Verify your status: Go to Account Settings > Billing. If it shows "Active," you're subscribed (email is just confirmation)

  4. Wait 5 minutes; sometimes Nira takes a few minutes to send

Problem: Payment processed but I see "Payment Failed" error

Cause: Rare glitch—the system charged you but lost connection briefly after.

Fix:

  1. Check Account Settings > Billing—what does it say?

  2. Check your credit card statement for a "Nira, Inc." charge

  3. If your account says "Active" and your card shows a charge, you're actually subscribed. The error was false.

  4. Contact support with your confirmation email or card reference if you're unsure

Problem: My trial countdown says "14 days" but I just signed up today

Cause: This is normal. Trial counts down in real time from account creation, not calendar days.

Fix: Nothing needed. Your trial expires exactly 15 × 24-hour periods after you created your account. You can subscribe anytime before then.

Problem: I can't find the Billing tab in Account Settings

Cause: Browser window too narrow or tab scrolled out of view.

Fix:

  • Desktop: Look for Billing next to Account, Notifications, or Preferences tabs

  • Mobile: Open the three-line menu (☰) and scroll down

  • If still hidden: Zoom out your browser (Ctrl+Minus / Cmd+Minus) to see all tabs

Technical Notes

  • Trial clock starts on account creation, not first login

  • Trial expiration is always UTC, not your local timezone—check the exact timestamp in Billing settings

  • Payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI Level 1 certified processor. Nira never stores your full card number

  • Both plans auto-renew—annual and monthly subscriptions. Mark your calendar to cancel before renewal if needed

  • One trial per email address. If you already used your trial, that email can't create another trial account

  • Auto-renewal surprise prevention: You receive email notifications before each renewal. Check that billing@nira.app isn't in your spam folder
